3dzaiku: from messy custom commissions to a clean flow

How a Bandung-based custom 3D-print studio moved repeat orders and custom commissions to WhatsApp + shoptopia.app/3dzaiku.

3dzaiku is a small Bandung studio focused on custom 3D-printing: tabletop figurines, custom keychains, personal gifts, and home decor. Each order typically requires 4–6 messages of back-and-forth on the design before printing. This kind of business model fits poorly with the standard marketplace format.

The old problem

On a marketplace the first buyer comes in expecting a fast single-flow purchase. But custom commissions take time, the buyer sends a reference photo, 3dzaiku replies with a sketch, one or two revisions, then production. The marketplace chat tool often breaks long conversations because it isn’t designed for it. Add to that the 6–9% per-order fee taken even from buyers who never used marketplace recommendations to find the shop.

What changed

  • shoptopia.app/3dzaiku became the official landing page, linked from Instagram and TikTok bios, plus a QR sticker on every shipped package.
  • New customers still arrive from social and marketplaces, but after the first contact every follow-up moves to WhatsApp.
  • Checkout uses QRIS via ShopTopia. Buyers pay after the final design is approved, no more marketplace escrow.
  • Commission bundles (e.g. 3 keychains on the same theme as a group gift) are easier to communicate and lifted AOV.

First three months

Margin per order rose 6–8 percentage points. Extra margin averaged Rp 7.8M per month. AOV climbed thanks to commission bundles. The hardest-to-quantify but most-felt change: customer conversations are calmer because they aren’t interrupted by marketplace notifications or rushed to close.
