Marketplace fees in 2026: Shopee, TikTok Shop, Tokopedia recalculated

Commissions, admin fees, service charges, and mandatory ads, broken down per platform with a Rp 50M/month worked example.

Most sellers only count the headline commission and forget the derivative fees: service charges, payment admin, free-shipping subsidies, and the internal ads that are effectively mandatory if you want to be seen. In 2026 the stacked fees for mid-tier Indonesian sellers land in the 10–18% range of gross revenue, depending on category and competition.

Anatomy of 2026 fees

  • Marketplace commission: 4–8% per sale, depending on category (fashion is usually highest).
  • Service fee: an additional 1–2% for buyer protection and platform operations.
  • Payment admin fee: 1.5–2% for QRIS/e-wallet, higher for cards.
  • Free shipping subsidy: 2–4% of order value when you join the program, taken from the seller.
  • In-platform ads: effectively 3–6% to be visible in competitive categories.

Example for Rp 50M/month revenue

A mid-tier fashion seller on Shopee with Rp 50,000,000/month revenue typically loses: 7% commission (Rp 3.5M) + 1.5% service fee (Rp 750K) + 1.8% payment admin (Rp 900K) + 3% free-shipping subsidy (Rp 1.5M) + 4% ads (Rp 2M). Total: roughly Rp 8.65M per month, or 17.3% of gross revenue.

Compare: a flat-subscription model

How to read these numbers
